Visiting Punta Cana: Tips before you travel

Climate and clothing
Punta Cana has a tropical climate, experiencing warm temperatures and humidity throughout the year, with an average between 25°C (77°F) and 31°C (88°F). During the summer months, temperatures can reach up to 33°C (91°F), while during the winter months it can drop to around 23°C (73°F).
Be sure to wear light and comfortable clothing. Don't forget to bring bathing suits, sunscreen, hats, and sunglasses to enjoy its beaches and the water activities it has to offer.

Language and Currency
The official language is Spanish, but many locals also speak English, especially in the tourist areas. Learning some basic Spanish phrases can be helpful.
Also, the official currency is the Dominican Peso (DOP), but the US dollar (USD) is widely accepted in restaurants, shops and other businesses. Although many places accept credit or debit card, we suggest to bring cash in both currencies. You can exchange money at banks, exchange houses or use ATMs to obtain Dominican pesos.
Transportation
Use reliable transportation services, such as licensed taxis or private transportation services, such as travelling from the airport to your villa or if you plan to explore beyond the resorts and tourist areas. Even though in Punta Cana Resort & Club and Cap Cana’s gated communities sites have walkable distances, we offer the possibility of renting carts during your stay.
You can rent a golf cart during your stay at the resorts.
Travel Insurance
Consider purchasing travel insurance that covers potential medical emergencies, flight cancellations, or other unforeseen events.
