History

Puntacana Resort &Club is a resort and residential community located in Punta Cana, La Altagracia Province, Dominican Republic; established in 1969 by businessman and hotelier Frank Rainieri and Theodore Kheel, a New York labor lawyer. The area now encompasses over 15,000 acres and includes Tortuga Bay hotel, The Westin Puntacana, a Six Senses Spa, an ecological reserve, five residential communities, restaurants, a full-service marina, two golf courses and the Punta Cana International Airport

Punta Cana International Airport

The Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ), built in 1984 and located just 5 minutes from the Resort, is a privately owned commercial airport and the second busiest airport in the Caribbean.Owned and operated by Grupo PUNTACANA, it continues to expand and currently boasts five million passengers annually.

Beaches

The Resort has two beautiful beaches open to the public: Playa Blanca and La Cana Golf Club House. In Playa Blanca you can relax with the privileged ocean-view while you enjoy a Mojito on the homonym renowned restaurant and bar or take kite surf lessons. In La Cana Club House you can dive and cool off into the swimming pool, have dinner or take some massages at the 6 Senses Spa.  

Golf Courses

There are international acclaimed golf courses: Corales and La Cana Golf. Tom Fazio's designed Corales is set between rocky cliffs, coral reefs and the expansive Caribbean Sea. Six oceanfront holes. Multiple lines of approach. La Cana is ocated directly on the Caribbean Sea, the P.B. Dye designed 27  hole course features 14 holes with ocean views.

From taking tennis lessons to a Segway tour through our natural reserve and skirting the pristine blue ocean, or take a well-deserved break on the Six Senses spa and maybe practice some of the most exciting water sports, such as kite surfing.
